Red Temple

Welcome to Indonesia, this time we will talk about Yogyakarta. If you come to Indonesia by plane you do not have to walk a long way to go to the resorts. Since near the airport there are many tourist attractions.

Red Temple is a Hindu temple located not far from Temple Banyunibo and Barong Temple, namely in Red Temple hamlet, village Jogotirto, Berbah subdistrict, Sleman, Yogyakarta, not far from the airport Adisucipto.


This temple was built in around the 9th century and 10th at the time of the Ancient Mataram Kingdom. The temple is shaped like a pyramid is called Candi Abang because it is made of red bricks (brother in Javanese), and is expected to have a younger age than any other Hindu temples.

The form of this temple in the form of a rectangle with size 36 x 34 meters, now overgrown with grass so that from afar looks like a small mound or hill. When first discovered, in this temple there are statues and pedestal yoni symbol of Lord Shiva segidelapan shaped (not rectangular, as usual) with sides measuring 15 cm.

Some people think Red Temple is the place where the treasure trove in the days of yore, and therefore are often damaged and excavated by a person not responsible (in November 2002, for example) that seek heritage treasure and valuables.
